My name is Keylan Prince and I am The Cairns Tropical Tech.
I have a lifetime of IT knowledge that I am always expanding on so I can provide tailor made solutions for my clients.

I have worked for Telstra, JB Hifi, and King IT Cairns to name a few. Which has given me a wealth of knowledge in technology, solution focused sales, and telco back of house. What this means for you is that I can provide solutions and in industry knowledge without the looming sales model trying to oversell to you.

From simple device setups to complete home networking and security solutions, there isn't much that I cannot do for you regarding software and hardware setups in the home.

I also have an extensive knowledge on device repairs and upgrades, what this means for you is that whether you have a busted phone screen or a failing PC, I can fix those things and offer up to a 12 month guarantee for all work done.

My history with Telstra brings a well-rounded knowledge of telco and the back of house procedures, and this means that I can use that knowledge to either assess your bills to find a cheaper and better service. I can also navigate the phone systems in an efficient way and escalate issues that you have with your telco provider. And with no current associations with telcos you can be assured I am not selling you a bunch of BS.

All About Me
Born in Cairns Base Hospital, I am a Cairns native who grew up with my mother working in web development in the days of ADSL connections. Throughout my childhood and school years I was always trying to get a hold of parts to build and upgrade computers, I had managed to Frankenstein some crazy PC builds that actually booted and ran. I also did a little bit of soft-modding on original Xbox consoles.

Graduating from high school I had managed to earn a certificate 1 and 2 in IT. Upon exiting high school I was working for Masters Home Hardware learning all about tools, trades and, DIY. I left Masters to move down south to Victoria, during that time I worked for a Telstra Store in Langwarren and JB Hifi in Frankston and Cranbourne. During these years I gained invaluable knowledge of technology and back of house systems for Telco's. It's during these times I grew to resent the sales model for the unnecessary crap that you were forced to sell your customers.

After my years in Victoria I moved back to Cairns to work for the Telstra store in Cairns Central and Smithfield. This was during the pandemic and while I was closing account for business customers who had lost their livelihood and wat of life, I was being dragged into the back room and pressured to sell whatever I could to these people who were facing some of the hardest time in their lives. This was the point in my life where I longed for the ability to provide a solutions for my customer without the looming threat of getting fired because I only gave my customer what they wanted/needed.

I then left Telstra to work for King IT Cairns as a Technologist, a nothing job title that explains nothing about what I did. I was a repair technician, acting store manager, and a salesperson. This gave me invaluable knowledge on providing consumer solutions for technology and how to implement those solutions. Once again the sales model reared its ugly head to insist upon overselling which ended up being a part of the reason I quit. But 90% of the reason was that I saw that I could do all these things that others provided at a more competitive price and a more human solution that meets my clients needs without overcomplicating things.
